As you may know, I absolutely love Howard B. Wigglebottom books, they teach wonderful lessons to children of younger ages.
My oldest son is 6 and he is in Kindergarten. He also is learning how to play hockey and really needs to learn how to be a good sport. He gets extremely mad when he has the puck taken away from him when they are scrimmaging and he also gets mad when he doesn't score the most goals at the end of practice. Even off the ice, when he is playing video games on the Wii, he gets so frustrated if he loses, especially if he loses to his daddy. This book was definitely needed for him to understand that he can not have that type of attitude and should be a good sport about losing, as long as he tried his best!
He had fun learning how to be a good sport when he is playing with other kids, or playing his video games at home. I made it relative to hockey and video games as well as what was being discussed in the book. He responds to things more when I give him relative examples that fit for him! He starts hockey again on 4/21 so we'll have to read the book before he goes to hockey practice! :)
As always, we absolutely loved the graphics in the book, all of the Howard books have such colorful and fun graphics to go along with the story!
Here are a couple pages from the book to showcase the graphics:
As you can see the graphics are very vibrant and colorful and make the story more fun to read! We absolutely enjoy this book as well as the others that we have read from the Howard B. Wigglebottom collection!

I played sports especially softball since I was little. I also went to a Catholic school when growing up. Church was also a great influence on my morals. Rita Spratlen rjspratlen@gmail.com
